  • Any parents or guardians who wish to volunteer at the school must have a background check on file at the school office. To complete your background check, follow the link on the school corporation website.
  • The Good Shepherd of the Hills Knights of Columbus is hosting a free throw competetion on Sunday, January 21st,  at the Dubois Middle School Gymnasium. Doors open for registration at 12:30, with the competition set to start at 1PM. Any boy or girl between the ages of 9 and 14 is eligble to compete (age is of January 1).

 

There will be divisions fo each age group, with separate groups for boys and girls. Trophy for winners and they advance to the distric K of C competition in February. Random drawing for attendance prizes. This competition is free!!! Any questions, call Jarrod Beck 481-1999.

Reading

 

Story

Since this is a short week, we will not be using a story out of the reading series. Instead, our reading activities will be based on this week’s Science Studies Weekly. The topic is matter.

Reading Log

The students will be given a reading log every Friday.  They will need to read 80 minutes a week and turn it in the following Friday.

 

 

 

Spelling

We will take the Spelling/Writing test every Friday.  The students will have to spell all 15 words on the front. On the back, they will be given  five sentences to write correctly.   Each sentence is worth 3 points– 1 each for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.  The total test is worth 30 points-15 for the words and 15 for the sentences.

We are working on our research papers.

Multiplication Fluency

 All students need to know 60 multiplication facts (in four minutes) by the end of January.  I will be taking a grade on these quizzes.   By the end of third grade, they will need to know 95 mixed (1-12) multiplication facts in four minutes.
