Special Notes and Dates

If you ever need to contact me, you can email me at jleonard@nedubois.k12.in.us or call 812-678-2777.  If I am unable to talk at the time, you can leave a message on my voicemail or with Judy, and I will call you back as soon as possible.

  • We are having dress-up days next week.  They are just for fun, so the students do not need to bring any money.  Monday is Crazy Sock Day and Tuesday is Pajama Day.

  • No School on November 22-24 for Thanksgiving Break

  • We will be going to Dubois Public Library on November 27th

  • The students do not have a reading log, reading test, or spelling test next week.   They will be the following week.

  • We will be collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots” program Nov. 17-Dec. 15.

  • My sub’s name is Mrs. Heather Breslin, and she will be starting the last week of November.  You will be able to contact her at hbreslin@nedubois.k12.in.us

  • Donation Jar-The students have been working very hard earning money for the classroom store.  I have started a donation jar that they can put any money they have earned in class to this jar.   I am going to trade out their fake penny for a real penny, and then I am going to use this money to purchase things for the Food Bank.   I am very proud of the students, because many of them have given every penny they have earned to this donation jar .

  • Reading Fluency- The students should be reading at least 85 words per minute at this time of year. I have several students below this, so please ask your child how many words they are reading in a minute.  Every child should know, but if they don’t, please let me know and I will get that information to you.  By the end of third grade, the students should be reading 120 words per minute.  If your child is struggling with this, the best thing you can have them do is read as much as possible.  You could have them read out loud, so that you know they are actually reading.
