Mrs. Leonard’s Class

November 13-17

Special Notes and Dates

If you ever need to contact me, you can email me at jleonard@nedubois.k12.in.us or call 812-678-2777.  If I am unable to talk at the time, you can leave a message on my voicemail or with Judy, and I will call you back as soon as possible.

  • Please have all Dubois Public Library Books returned to school by Friday, November 17.  If you are going to turn them in for your child, they are due on November 20th.

  • We will be collecting toys for the “Toys for Tots” program Nov. 17-Dec. 15

  • Donation Jar-The students have been working very hard earning money for the classroom store.  I have started a donation jar that they can put any money they have earned in class to this jar.   I am going to trade out their fake penny for a real penny, and then I am going to use this money to purchase things for the food bank.   I am very proud of the students, because many of them have given every penny they have earned to this donation jar .

  • Reading Fluency- The students should be reading at least 85 words per minute at this time of year. I have several students below this, so please ask your child how many words they are reading in a minute.  Every child should know, but if they don’t, please let me know and I will get that information to you.  By the end of third grade, the students should be reading 120 words per minute.  If your child is struggling with this, the best thing you can have them do is read as much as possible.  You could have them read out loud, so that you know they are actually reading.
